Which bulbs are best for your car?
There are three types of car bulbs: halogen (or filament), LED, and HID (or xenon). Most cars are fitted with halogen bulbs; these are cost-effective, easy to replace, and can be upgraded with higher-performance alternatives for a longer lifespan or brighter, whiter light.
LED bulbs are more expensive but incredibly energy-efficient, built to last the lifespan of your vehicle. HID (High-Intensity Discharge) bulbs are also costly, but they can produce up to 450% more light than a standard halogen bulb, vastly overtaking the typical halogen upgrade of 150-200%.
LED and HID bulbs are only road legal for cars that were manufactured with these bulb types in mind; it’s not legal to replace halogen bulbs with LED or HID bulbs. Always check the advice provided in your vehicle handbook and ensure that your vehicle is serviced annually.
